First electronic water level monitoring
system?
BEI Edcliff Instruments introduces FluidTrax, an easy-to-use system for monitoring water levels in wells.
The first electronic water level monitoring system designed for permanent installation in operating wells: BEI Edcliff Instruments introduces FluidTrax The system consists of a rugged monitoring unit and probe which gives accurate readings from a hermetically sealed pressure transmitter

High-resolution, rotary position sensor
BEI Duncan Electronics introduces NCAPS, a Non-Contacting Angular Position Sensor specifically developed by BEI Technologies to provide a cost effective, high-resolution, rotary position sensor.
The probe is installed in the well near the pump inlet and connects to a surface display unit via a fully protected cable.
Developed by professionals working in the water well industry, the FluidTrax system is based on first-hand experience over many decades of drilling, servicing, and analysing wells and pumps.
It significantly reduces early pump failures and helps extend the life of a pump, allowing users to set constant pumping rates to maintain the well at its most efficient water level.

Multi-axis inertial sensor system launched
BEI Systron Donner Inertial Division introduces the MotionPak II, a low cost, multi-axis, solid state, MEMS based, inertial sensor system that is accurate, rugged and highly reliable.
As the system is permanently installed, there is no wasted time and effort re-deploying probes each time a measurement is needed.
Unlike probes utilising plastic tube constructions, its armoured steel cable resists damage during installation and will provide many years of trouble free operation.
The FluidTrax system is easy to install and this can be done while the well is in operation.
The probe body is only 0.625 inch diameter and can easily fit through the gap between the casing and column pipe, through a 0.75 inch access port on the pump head or the sounding tube, between the casing and column pipe.
The nominal pressure range is 0 to 500 psig and the operating temperature range -40 to +85C.
The Liquid Crystal Display reads either Depth to Water or Height of Water Column in feet or metres and provides an accurate reading (with linearity, hysteresis and repeatability to +/- 0.5%) in a matter of seconds.
The FluidTrax signal outputs are fully compatible with remote monitoring devices used in telemetry or SCADA systems allowing rapid survey over a large area.
The 'cost per well' is lower than any other monitoring system in its class, making it an attractive option for any municipal or agricultural well application.
Operation and maintenance costs are also low.
FluidTrax has many advantages compared to alternative solutions.
Bubbler gauges, for example, are expensive to operate, whereas the permanently installed FluidTrax system is very cost effective and easy to use.
Similarly, sounding tapes must be deployed every time a reading is required, but FluidTrax only needs to be installed once and functions reliably, even in very deep wells.
FluidTrax is not subject to the errors that can affect ultrasonic devices, such as temperature, humidity, and interference from internal well structures.
It is designed for speedy installation into operating wells and the design eliminates vented tubes and their associated problems.
