System keeps fish fresh and saves money
Beko Technologies distributor BRE has provided Edinburgh based fish processor RC Croan and Sons with a flexible, energy-efficient compressed air and condensate management system.
Beko Technologies distributor BRE has provided Edinburgh based fish processor RC Croan and Sons with a flexible, energy-efficient compressed air and condensate management system, yielding annual energy savings worth around GBP 2800 Three Beko Drypoint membrane dryers handle moist air produced by two Atlas Copco compressors; a Bekomat unit automatically drains the condensate from the compressor system, then feeds it to an Owamat oil/water separator, ready for discharge to a suitable watercourse

Adsorption dryers cut compressed air costs
Beko's new Drypoint AC cold-regenerated adsorption dryers help prevent corrosion, rejects or damage on the production line with reduced treatment costs and increased reliability.
Air contamination remover in smaller size
Beko Technologies has just introduced a new version of its Bekosplit compressed air, condensate and emulsion splitting plant, which is ideal for smaller applications and installations.
RC Croan and Sons supplies Waitrose supermarkets with vacuum packed fish products including salmon, trout, mackerel and kippers.
The process depends on a controlled flow of clean, dry air for fish preparation and packing.
BRE's solution to the company's condensate problem recognised that the 10 process rooms do not all have the same requirements.
Only three require air at minus dew point while the remaining seven can operate two or three degrees above dew point.
Instead of providing a conventional single-sized compressor with desiccant dryer on a 'one size fits all' principle, BRE installed two compressors matched to the separate tasks, which offered the security that the company is not totally dependent on a single unit.
The Beko Drypoint membrane dryers take compressed moist air and feed it through hollow fibre membranes, allowing water to diffuse to the outside.
Designed for varying demands typical of food processing, Drypoint adjusts to create stable humidity and drying rate in all seasons.
Ensuring a supply of high quality compressed air, the Bekomat removes and treats condensate throughout the system.
Unlike traditional compression installations, which required regular manual draining, the Bekomat provides a simple visual check with the facility to drain off condensate as required.
Beko Technologies' Owamat removes traces of oil from condensate, usually around 1%, to meet the quality levels required for discharge to a watercourse by The Environment Agency.
Bobby McPherson from RC Croan summed up his company's reaction to the project: "The operation is far simpler and more cost effective than before, and BRE maintains the equipment for us.
It copes well with the different temperature zones and checking the water sample is no great hassle compared with what we used to have". Request a free brochure from Beko Technologies ...
