Compact, efficient and powerful
hydraulic motors
The VIS (Valve In Star) motor range offers increased pressure capability, improved efficiency, quieter operation, a more compact envelope and a greater size range.

Eaton have built on their knowledge and experience with their traditional disc and spool valve motors and have extensively tested the new design so customers can be confident that these new units will offer the same reliable, long and trouble free service that is expected from an Eaton product.
The VIS motor has the distributor valve, which controls the flow of oil to and from the lobes of the geroler gear set, located in the internal gear of the set.
This arrangement reduces the overall length of the motor, giving a more compact unit; lessens the number of components, reducing noise and improving efficiency and permits higher pressure, increasing the torque that the motor can generate.
Containing integral shuttle and charge relief valves and utilising an external case drain these motors are designed primarily for use in closed loop systems, however they can be used on open loop systems if a 6.9 bar back pressure is applied in order to adequately lubricate the drive shaft and bearings.
Substantial taper roller bearings provide excellent axial and radial load carrying capacity.
Eaton VIS motors are available in two frame sizes, VIS 30 and VIS 45.
The VIS 30 size has displacements ranging from 246 to 623 cc/rev, continuous output torque from 720 to 1520 Nm (1275 to 2100 Nm peak).
The VIS 45 size caters for 519 to 1557 cc/rev, with torque from 1522 to 3801 Nm continuous (2696 to 5656 Nm peak).
Both the VIS 30 and 45 sizes are available with a range of flange, shaft and port options including standard and wheel mounting flanges, tapered, parallel, splined and bearingless shafts.
The bearingless option is supplied without the standard motors bearings and shaft, the unit which it is to drive; gearbox, winch drum etc, is machined to accept the Eaton motors carden shaft and supplies the bearings.
This arrangement offers dramatic savings in terms of both space and cost.
With increased capacity (up to 1557 cc/rev) and higher pressure capability Eaton's VIS motors make an attractive alternative to Cam Lobe designs and particularly using Eaton's Bearingless design a VIS motor will provide a significantly more compact package.
