Radical redesign shrinks steering
control unit
Due to their design hydraulic steering control units have always had their ports at right angles to the axis of the steering column, the geroter section being at the base of the unit.
Due to their design, hydraulic steering control units have always had their ports at right angles to the axis of the steering column, the geroter section being at the base of the unit With the new "Flex 4" steering control unit, Eaton have revised old tradition by locating the geroter set at the wheel end and the valves at the other, enabling the ports to be inline with the axis of the column

Larger capacity for hydraulic motors
Eaton has introduced larger capacity versions of their hydraulic low speed high torque geroler J series motors. Eaton J-02 motors give a substantial source of rotary power in a very compact envelope.
Complete Self Feed Drilling Systems introduced
Berendsen's new self feed drill units, supplied by Compair Tools and Equipment, combine an air or electric motor with a double acting pneumatic cylinder and associated control valves in one unit.
This simple move permits a more compact installation and greater mounting flexibility, resulting in reduced installation costs.
As a further aid to installation and compact layout the steering control unit has an integral column onto which the steering wheel attaches and the unit can be fixed onto or through a fascia.
To accurately match steering requirements "Flex 4" units are available in five displacements and a comprehensive range of valve options are offered.
Eaton's "Flex 4" units are designed for vehicles up to 70/100 Hp.
They are suitable for 140 bar systems and can withstand 20 bar backpressure.
To achieve the optimum characteristics for the wide variety of applications in which these units can be used, Eaton have produced five displacement options from 58.7 to 146 cm3/rev.
They also offer a comprehensive range of valve options including: - manual steering check, inlet relief, load sensing relief, inlet check, cylinder relief and anti-cavitation functions.
Neutral circuit options include open centre, open centre power beyond and load sensing.
Furthermore powered input torque is low, 0.8 to 1.8 Nm, leading to greater operator comfort and less fatigue.
Eaton's NEW "Flex 4" steering control units are available in the UK from Berendsen PMC who have a wealth of experience in the application of steering and other mobile hydraulic systems.
Berendsen have assembled a range of products from some of the most respected manufacturers in the industry, principally Eaton, Vickers, Marzocchi, Alfagomma and Hydr-App, that enable them to offer equipment that can very accurately meet the requirements of their customers.
In a very price sensitive market mobile equipment manufacturers will find in Berendsen a cost effective, efficient and reliable solution to their fluid power needs.
