Versatile nozzle offers more control

A BETE product story

With its external mix design that eliminates common problems such as blockages and uneven spray pattern, the Bete SAM provides an extremely effective solution for the spraying of viscous materials

A versatile new spraying solution, specifically designed to provide variable spray coverage and fine control of drop size, is now available from Bete, the UK arm of the US nozzle giant, Bete Fog Nozzle.

The system's advanced design eliminates the problems traditionally associated with the spraying of viscous substances, and is ideally suited to operations where a precisely controlled application of finely atomised material is required, such as in the food processing, paper and pulp, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

Incorporating an external mix design that eliminates common problems such as blockages and uneven spray pattern, the Bete SAM provides an extremely effective solution for the spraying of viscous materials.

Its advanced air cap gasket design features separate atomising air and fan air lines - ensuring that changes in one air pressure will not affect the other - to allow the precise setting of both droplet size and spray pattern.

The product is perfect for a wide range of applications including moisturising, lubricating, additive control, disinfecting and coating.

Containing an internal, air operated shutoff valve, the SAM provides extremely accurate metering of liquid flow rates - independent of air - and possesses a number of unique features.

A self-centring fluid cap ensures uniform spray distribution while a floating (rather than standard fixed) cleanout needle greatly reduces the chance of breakage during operation.

The SAM's shutoff needle also contains a soft seal to eliminate air leaks and reduce air consumption.

Incorporating a number of interchangeable air caps and fluid caps to offer a combination of 7 different external mix set-ups, the SAM's spray type is determined by variations in air pressure: a higher atomising air pressure yields a finer drop size, whereas a higher fan air pressure yields broader patterns.

When the atomised air is completely shut off, the nozzle produces a straight stream, while a third inlet can feed air to the built-in shutoff valve, which operates at up to 120 cycles per minute.

Capable of atomising materials at viscosities of up to 2,000 - 3,000 centipoise, the SAM contains two holes designed for alignment pins, ensuring precise positioning of the nozzle body if the complete assembly has been removed and reinstalled.

An optional air cap alignment pin also guarantees consistent spray positioning when the air cap is removed and replaced for inspection, cleaning or maintenance.

Constructed of 303 stainless steel - with the exception of the springs, gaskets and seals - the product measures just 45mm x 94mm, and is capable of delivering flow rates ranging from 0.74 gph to 47 gph (2.8 l/h to 179 l/h).

For operations with highly viscous or heated materials, liquid can be supplied in a recirculating loop and through an optional second liquid inlet.
