Williams invests in Bigmachines' Lean Front-End

A BigMachines product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 11, 2009

Williams Furnace has bought a Lean Front-End (LFE) from Bigmachines to provide greater visibility into distributor quotes and forecasting.

Williams Furnace makes fan coils and air handlers for the commercial construction industry.

The company also provides home-heating products including wall furnaces, gas and console heaters and evaporative coolers.

Williams needed a tool that could manage multiple sales channels and integrate with its ERP system.

Quote volume and sales have since increased without expanding customer support.

Sales information can be fed directly into the company's ERP system.

The system also generates performance criteria and even piping and instrumentation diagram (PID) schematics, such as valve layouts that show the HVAC system connections.

The Bigmachines LFE, including the calculation tool, is now available online to engineers, contractors, manufacturer's representatives and distributors.

It allows them to build out the configuration selection, which can be passed to reps and distributors to provide customers with quotes.

This ensures users have the latest pricing, configuration and product data needed to install updates.
