Type test certification adds confidence to supply
LV and HV equipment type test certification is essential to reliable electrical supply says Craig Diack-Evans, Director at ASTA BEAB Certification Services.
EMF Directive impacts workplace specifications
The requirements of the new EMF Directive 2004/04/EC could create new business opportunities for electrical engineers and contractors involved in workplace specification and build.
In addition, the website contains BEAB's popular buyers' guide - this provides instant access to the full list of electrical products that currently have a BEAB approved certificate.
A search can be made based on product, brand or model.
Manufacturers of domestic electrical products have their own dedicated area of the website, as do importers/exporters, wholesalers/retailers, enforcement agencies (such as Trading Standards) and consumers.
BEAB's contract laboratories will have a password-protected route into the website to enable access to technical data.
Among many new additions to the site, pages contain information about UK, European and international safety approval processes; changing standards and dates of withdrawal of standards; management system certification; factory approval; product surveillance services; plus the legal responsibilities of all those in the supply chain to supply electrical products which are safe for use.
Mike Vint, BEAB's Managing Director, comments: "We are delighted with the improvements made across the website and I'm confident that these will add even more value to the BEAB approvals service".
There are also sections devoted to breaking news, recent case studies, forthcoming events and BEAB's twice-yearly newsletter "Update".
