The Arkwright Scholarship Trust is dedicated to encouraging the young to become career engineers.

In a move designed to help interested children take up engineering as a profession, the BFPA has agreed to sponsor five students through the highly respected Arkwright Scholarship Trust, which is dedicated to encouraging the young to become career engineers For some decades now the Government and many education establishments and authorities seem to have placed considerable emphasis on academic achievement as the yardstick for success in the young, a policy that has seen engineering and many other important vocational careers lack respect among the general population

The BFPA hopes its input will help reverse this trend and is doing all it can to encourage a similar response in others.

The scheme sees year-11 youngsters and their schools benefit from significant cash support which will be spent on project/study material.

BFPA members companies will encourage the students further by offering the opportunity for work experience periods during their A level courses.

The BFPA sees this important commitment as a major investment in the future of the engineering industry.
