BHR Group's 17th International Conference on fluid sealing is the latest in a sequence of successful events that addresses these key issues and provides a firm foundation for future developments.

Emission control is critical in process plant, industrial equipment, machinery and transportation systems The failure of a seemingly simple seal can have expensive, hazardous or even fatal consequences

Plant or equipment downtime, environmental damage, lost or spoiled production and expensive maintenance can often be avoided by proper application of appropriate technology.

The demands on seals are increasingly stringent and much of the emphasis is on controlling environmental contamination.

Improvements are driven by new standards, legislation and economic considerations but this can create increase the overall cost of ownership.

The challenge facing engineers today is to deploy the best possible solutions to their complex fluid sealing requirements.

For this they need informed knowledge about the latest developments and an understanding of how advances made in other industries may have significance in their own.

BHR Group's 17th International Conference on fluid sealing is the latest in a sequence of highly successful events that addresses these key issues and provides a firm foundation for future developments and insight into the application and exploitation of the best available technologies.

Registration is now open for this prestigious event which takes place in York, England, 8th-10th April 2003.

With its aim of further improving sealing reliability and effectiveness, the conference has evolved since its inception to reflect the growing maturity of the technology.

It is firmly established as the premier event in its field and always delivers important and interesting information that enables engineers to become fully conversant with the latest technology for good sealing.

It also represents an ideal opportunity for knowledge transfer in formal sessions and through one-to-one contact where engineers from a range of industries can present and discuss industrial applications of fluid sealing, the latest in research and development, and emerging issues and challenges for suppliers and users.

A special feature of this year's conference is the incorporation of a focused end-user day on Wednesday 9 April.

Throughout the day there will be presentations on oil and gas and petrochemical applications in particular and day visitors will be welcomed to the meeting to discuss sealing challenges in their industry with the panel of international speakers.

The event includes original case study and technical contributions crossing all aspects of the design and application of fluid sealing that will be of interest to professionals from industries such as petrochemical, R and D, oil and gas, health and safety, power generation, paper/pulp, defence, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, precision machining/cutting, aerospace, food, automotive/transport, metal industries, fluid power, and mining/mineral extraction.

Presentations have been grouped into a number of themed sessions that target specific sectors and topics: mechanical seal analysis; compression packing materials; rotary shaft seals; reciprocating seals; high pressure gas sealing; elastomer selection; flange sealing integrity; high-duty dynamic seals; rotary pressure seals; gasketed joint design.
