Apprentices win industry recognition
Shearline has been running an internal training programme for 14 years, which has been designed to help bridge the gap of skills shortages within the UK's engineering and manufacturing industries.
Linear actuation technology boosts fuel efficiency
Ricardo's electromagnetic linear actuator technology can be multiplexed in order to operate both the clutch control and gear selection functions.
Styling studio turntables feature high levels of control via a radio remote facility, which includes variable speed options, and three hand-held transmitters have been supplied to allow designers to operate the turntable from anywhere in the design studio.
All-round vantage points of the clay models are therefore possible, allowing new vehicles to be photographed easily, and basic product launch work, customer clinics and reviews to be carried out as and when required.
Particular requirements for this type of turntable are quiet operation and reliability.
British Turntable Co has extensive expertise in providing turntables for use in automotive styling studios and has supplied them to most of the major car manufacturers.
Indeed, two units were installed at a Ford photographic studio in 1971 to make it easier to position cars at different angles, saving time and labour during photo shoots.
The company also designs and markets a range of automotive display turntables for use in showrooms, new vehicle launches and motor shows.
Ford dealerships in Amsterdam and Edinburgh have chosen 5m diameter revolving stages for this purpose, raising them on a plinth and decking them in an attractive beech veneer to create an eye-catching focal point in the display area.
As well as standard revolving stages in diameters from 2 to 10m, British Turntable offers the Olympian 4.5 full platform turntable and the Merlin Major 21 car revolve, which is practically invisible in operation.
Both are designed to be portable and can be used to highlight different areas of the showroom or can be transported to the local shopping centre or show area for special promotions.
The Merlin Major 21 can even be used outside, on the forecourt, for instance, as it can be operated from the car's own 12V battery.
All units are available for sale or for hire from depots throughout the world.
