The Skilled Workforce Initiative runs for 12 weeks and the curriculum will include applied math and manufacturing practices, blueprint reading, hand tool usage and employment, life and safety skills.

Bison has collaborated with the College of DuPage to develop the Skilled Workforce Initiative, to deal with the shortage of qualified personnel in the manufacturing industry.

The programme helps prepare entry level workers to be effective in their positions by acquiring the skill sets necessary.

The classes will be held weekly for 12 weeks and the curriculum will include applied math and manufacturing practices, blueprint reading, hand tool usage and employment, life and safety skills.

Participants must be at least 18 years old, be legal residents and meet qualification-determined assessments.

The programme begins 29th October, 2007 and concludes on 19th December, 2007.

Upon successful completion students will receive a certificate from the Manufacturing Skill Standard Council and will be interviewed by partnered manufacturing companies for employment.

Participants will also be granted college credit from the College of DuPage upon successful completion in special sections of the MSSC delivery system course.
