A Bison Gear and Engineering product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 17, 2008

Bison Gear and Engineering has introduced a series of fractional horsepower DC gearmotors featuring right angle worm gearing.

Designed to also function as Von Weise Drop-In Replacements, the Bison VWDIR23 gearmotors are available in six standard 90V DC input models.

With gear ratios from 37:1 to 525:1, corresponding fixed output speeds range from 90 to 3rpm, with output torques from 34 to 250in/lbs (3.8 to 28.3Nm).

These drop-in replacements for VW23 and VW33 gearmotors feature: 1/10 or 1/20hp (75 or 150W) permanent magnet DC motors with replaceable brushes; grease lubrication for long life; and all-position mounting, with left, right or dual output shafts with a 100lb (45.4 kg) overhung load rating.

Bunnyray Larmond, Bison Gear regional sales manager, said: 'The permanent magnet DC motor offers much higher starting torque capability than comparable AC motors and we can even mount a Bison integral speed control directly to these gearmotors for even more versatility.

The VWDIR23 right angle DC gearmotors are available with UL and CSA recognition.
