Sensor detects critical road surface
conditions
The Lufft IRS intelligent road sensor detects critical road surface conditions by measuring road surface temperature, residual salt and surface water/ice film depth.
The Lufft IRS intelligent road sensor detects critical road surface conditions by measuring road surface temperature, residual salt and surface water/ice film depth There is an option of adding two further sensors to measure subsurface temperatures
The IRS may be connected to a roadside weather station, direct to third-party data collection systems or to overhead variable message signs to instantly warn motorists of the road conditions.
The IRS is a passive sensor requiring power for a short interval when measurements are required.
From a maintenance standpoint, replacing a faulty IRS requires only the inner part of the sensor changing without having to dig up the buried connection cable, thereby reducing road works delays to a minimum.
