JSF programme provides contract double

A Brookhouse Holdings product story

Brookhouse has double involvement in the JSF programme through the work it is currently carrying out for Stork Fokker and for BAE Systems.

Brookhouse, one of the UK's leading composites engineering companies, has double involvement in the JSF programme through the work it is currently carrying out for Stork Fokker and for BAE Systems.

The Darwen-based company is currently producing all the Invar tooling for the manufacture of the aircraft's composite doors at Stork Fokker and, at the same time, is manufacturing the mould tooling and the complex-geometry, composite packer components, which fit between the carbon skin and the titanium structure, for BAE Systems.

All the tooling has been designed by Brookhouse from information supplied in Catia format and manufactured on high-precision, CNC machining centres.

The packer components are laid up in Brookhouse's extensive cleanrooms and cured in one of the company's six state-of-the-art autoclaves.

Brookhouse has been associated with the aerospace sector for over 50 years and, as well as the JSF, its skills and expertise have been employed in aircraft ranging from the Canberra bomber to Typhoon fighter and from the Concorde to Airbus A380 and A400M.

An on-going programme of investment since its management buy-out some two years ago, has seen significant additions to its design and machining resources, to its composites manufacturing and finishing facilities and to its quality accreditations and certifications.

Brookhouse is a company that is totally focused on the aerospace sector.

As well as its acknowledged capabilities in tooling design and manufacture and in composites engineering, it has also built up maturing alliances with strategic partners in the composites sector so that it can now offer a comprehensive capability for design, prototyping, manufacture, testing and finishing of complete composite components.

As a result, it can provide its worldwide aerospace customers with a global facility to take responsibility for complete packages of composites' development and manufacture projects.
