The model 1906 is a 5 1/2-digit auto/manual ranging multimeter with a scale length of 210,000 counts, a resolution of luV, lmW and 1nA, a basic DC voltage accuracy of 0.012%, and a cost of under £400

The model 1906 from TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments) is a 51/2-digit auto/manual ranging multimeter with a scale length of 210,000 counts, a resolution of l microvolt, l mW and 1 nA, a basic DC voltage accuracy of 0.012%, and a cost of under £400 The multimeter incorporates a limits comparator which displays 'high', 'low' or 'pass' in addition to the measurement reading

A buzzer can be set to operate for pass/fail conditions if required, and the comparator can be operated via the digital interface.

The 1906 incorporates a large number of other 'smart' functions.

These include linear scaling with Offset (Ax + B), percentage deviation, min/max storage, and logarithmic (dB) calculations.

The meter has a built-in data logger that can store up to 100 readings into non-volatile memory.

Readings can be stored at any selected time interval from one per second to one every three hours.

Alternatively, storage can be triggered manually from the front panel or automatically from the RS232 or GPIB interfaces.

A simple recall sequence allows readings to be scrolled onto the display whenever required.

Results can also be downloaded to a computer or printer using the digital interfaces.

All AC functions are true RMS.

The wide-bandwidth AC measurement system can be used for frequencies up to 50 kHz.

The maximum measurable inputs are 1000 V DC, 750 V AC and 10 A DC or AC.

The 1906 offers manual or fully automatic ranging (including current ranges), and all functions, ranges and computing programmes can be controlled via its built-in digital interface.

As standard, the 1906 has an addressable RS-232 interface.

Alternatively a version with a GPIB interface is available which conforms fully with IEEE-488.2.

The meter is housed in a robust ABS case with a multi-position tilt stand.

An optional 2U high rackmount kit is available for system applications.

The 1906 is manufactured in the UK, and costs ?395 (plus VAT).
