New distributor for Tek's TLA 600 logic analysers
Tektronix has extended the scope of its instrument distribution operations by appointing TTi to distribute the 34- and 68-channel versions of the TLA 600 family of logic analysers in the UK
Tektronix has significantly extended the scope of its instrument distribution operations by appointing TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments) to distribute the 34- and 68-channel versions of the company's recently introduced TLA 600 family of logic analysers in the UK.
Although some Tektronix products, including handheld instruments and portable oscilloscopes, have been marketed via distribution channels for some time, the new distribution agreements represent a significant step forward, since logic analysers have traditionally been regarded as top-end 'high-tech' products unsuited to the distributor approach.
'The fact that we can now offer these products via distribution is entirely down to their innovative design and operating capabilities, coupled with their extremely attractive pricing', comments Dave Ireland, Tektronix' business development manager for logic analysers: 'Traditionally, logic analysers have been regarded as complex and not very user-friendly, requiring extensive demonstration, evaluation and training before a sale took place.
And the prices of high-performance logic analysers - which typically start at tens of thousands of pounds - made distribution an inappropriate approach.' The Tektronix TLA 600 Series, with prices starting in the region of ?5000, sets a new price/performance standard for logic analysis.
Like the top-end TLA 700 Series, it operates on an Open Windows platform, making it exceptionally easy to use and to integrate into the design environment.
The TLA 600 Series is designed specifically for engineers who quickly need to identify hardware and software problems that can delay the product development cycle, allowing budget-conscious digital designers to solve high-performance problems previously addressed only by more expensive solutions.
TTi has been handling other Tektronix products for many years, offers a high level of customer service with technical support, and has 20 years' experience in the logic analyser market.
John Cornwell, TTi's Managing Director, is enthusiastic about the new opportunities provided by the Tektronix logic analysers: 'The increasing demands of speed and complexity in modern electronics have meant that logic analysers have become general-purpose debugging tools rather than development systems, and we are responding to this trend by providing an integrated marketing and support package for our customers.'.
