A new system integrates/the operation of the Tektronix TLA family of logic analysers with various models of the Tektronix TDS range of digitising oscilloscopes
Now available from TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments), the Tektronix iView (Integrated View) system combines analogue and digital measurement by providing sampling in the gigahertz range with logic analyser triggering.
The new system integrates/the operation of the Tektronix TLA family of logic analysers with various models of the Tektronix TDS range of digitising oscilloscopes.
Dramatic advances in the performance of devices such as processors and memories have created the need for much higher performance digital buses.
In response, system designers have turned to faster edges, lower voltages, multi-pumping of data, and source synchronous techniques, among others.
Consequently, many new digital system designs are plagued with problems that arise from fast, complex signals: glitches, noise, anomalies, and more.
These aberrations are 'analogue' in nature, even though the system itself may be digital.
A high-performance oscilloscope is the best tool for acquiring such signal aberrations, while the logic analyser remains the core tool for digital acquisition, display, and analysis.
The strengths of the best logic analyser and the highest performance and most accurate oscilloscope are combined into one display with the new iView option, allowing quick verification and debugging of designs.
The logic analyser points to the problem and the oscilloscope looks at the problem with very high-resolution analogue detail.
The 'setup' and 'run' functions of both instruments are implemented from the logic-analyser display.
Using the iView Setup Wizard, the TLA application automatically sets up the logic analyser and oscilloscope cross-triggering, and captures and displays both the analogue and digital data, time-correlated on one integrated display.
The sample speed and measurement accuracy of the oscilloscope is fully integrated with the multi-channel and powerful triggering capabilities of the logic analyser.
The iView option is available for ?1370 (plus VAT), or free of charge if the logic-analyser and oscilloscope combination are purchased on the same order.
