The XHR range of 1000W programmable power supplies is power-factor-corrected for low current draw and reduced generation of input current harmonics.

The XHR range of 1000W programmable power supplies, now available from TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments), is power-factor-corrected for low current draw and reduced generation of input current harmonics.

State of the art zero-voltage or "soft switching" technology virtually eliminates switching transients and contributes to the efficiency and low noise performance of the unit.

The complete range includes nine 1000W models with output voltage ranges between 0-7.5 and 0-600V DC and output current ranges between 0-1.7 and 0-130A.

Analogue programming is provided as standard but three types of programming cards are optional.

An isolated interface card provides isolated analogue control and readback of output voltage and current, and RS232 (16bit) and GPIB (16bit) interface cards are also available, along with LabView and LabWindows drivers.

Front-panel 10-turn knobs are used for high-resolution setting of voltage and current limit.

Front-panel digital displays allow accurate (0.5% + 1 count) voltage and current control.

Housed in a compact (87 x 215 x 472mm), half-rack, stackable package and weighing only 6.4kg, the unit is ideal for both bench-top and system use.

Flexibility for use in a system is increased by the availability of front and/or rear connectors.

Its combination of unique features and size make the XHR ideal for OEM applications where high power and wide adjustment of output voltage or current is required and a compact half-rack configuration is advantageous.

The universal AC voltage input operates between 85 and 250V AC and from 47 to 63Hz.

There is a 4s time delay between power on and stable output.

Constant-voltage or constant-current operation is possible with automatic crossover and mode indication.

Other features include overvoltage protection, current limit and thermal protection.

XHR series units cost GBP 1124 (plus VAT).
