Modules reduce harmonic distortion
Harmonic filter modules designed to reduce harmonic distortion, RMS and peak currents to acceptable levels.
With ever-increasing demand for more sophisticated control systems, engineers make use of variable frequency drives, switching power supplies and other non-linear loads These are creating the increasing problem of harmonic distortion on the power grid

Filters clean up nonlinear loads
Harmonic filter modules reduce distortion, RMS and peak currents to acceptable levels.
Block's line of harmonic filter modules, type HFM, has been designed to reduce harmonic distortion, RMS and peak currents to acceptable levels.
The current waveform of such non-linear loads is improved to a near sinusoidal form.
Without such filters, uncontrolled symptoms can lead to system failure and downtime.
The filter modules range from 4 to 630kW in various performance levels.
These filters meet EN and US guidelines EN 6100-3-4, EN 61000-3-12 and IEEE519.
When compared with conventional methods, the HFM filters are claimed to provide a 40% reduction in cost and size.
The integration is similar to the Block line reactor before the six-pulse bridge and can be supplied for new and existing controls.
To be used worldwide, the filters are designed to meet safety approvals as outlined by UL508, VDE0570 and EN61558.
