Engineers and buyers in the UK are aware that high quality, low cost castings are available from countries outside the EU but concerns about supplier communication, import regulations and documentation, logistics and continuity of supply, present an insurmountable obstacle for many companies.
Now Blue Diamond, an engineering company that specialises in the import of engineering components, has extended its scope of supply to cover cast components.
The service is ideally suited to the supply of small to medium quantities of castings in a range of sizes and materials including aluminium, cast iron and various alloys.
Castings can be supplied unfettled for machining by the customer or fully machined and finished to the customer's specification.
The engineers at Blue Diamond use a carefully vetted group of mature suppliers to ensure that stringent quality standards are met throughout the manufacturing process.
Products are extensively checked using sophisticated test equipment prior to despatch to ensure they meet the customer's specification.
The result is a regular supply of castings of a quality commensurate with European manufacture but at a fraction of the cost.

Engineering drawings and technical specifications can be provided and they can also organise the manufacture of tools outside the UK, a process that again results in significant cost savings.
Blue Diamond takes full responsibility for security of supply and stock control management, ensuring that production requirements are dovetailed into the customers systems including Kanban and just in time.
