Slice I/O system wins seal of approval as one of the best technologies of 2005 in the Editors' Choice Award winners announced in the January issue of Control Engineering.

The X20 system from B and R Industrial Automation received the seal of approval as one of the best technologies of 2005, among the Editors' Choice Award winners announced in the January issue of Control Engineering.

Winners for the 19th annual awards were chosen based on service to the industry, technological advancement and market impact within eight categories, including machine control.

The X20 system was the only slice I/O system to win the award in its category.

The I/O unit operates as a controller when combined with a CPU, meaning that a third programming environment does not have to be learned.

The highly modular I/O and control system makes assembling and expanding required control functions easier.

Additionally, the modular control and I/O system can run many applications without programming.

Configuration and testing can be done offline.

The awards ceremony will be held during the National Manufacturing Week, 20th to 24th March, in Chicago.
