Stand-alone embedded controller CPU for switching cabinet installation and distributed machine architectures can be connected to three I/O systems to increase machine flexibility.

The EC21 Embedded Controller is a stand-alone CPU for switching cabinet installation, and is suitable for distributed machine architectures.

With an interface for the B and R X2X backplane on board, it can be connected to three different B and R I/O systems (X67 I/O, compact I/O and the X20 system) to increase machine flexibility.

There are various interfaces and it suits applications such as motion control, visualisation via remote displays and logic control.

The module has interchangeable application memory in the form of a compact flash card as well as a separate backup battery.

It is equipped with five application interfaces: RS232 interface (IF1) for programming and configuring using B and R Automation Studio; Can interface (IF2); Profibus DP interface (IF3); X2X Link interface (IF4); and Ethernet interface (IF6).

Up to three digital I/Os are provided.

The digital inputs and outputs can be configured individually as input or output.

Functions such as a counter with direction switching or period and gate measurement are integrated.
