Vision sensors offer a low-cost edge
New from Banner Engineering Corp, PresencePlus P4 Edge vision sensors for high-speed inspection and error-proofing applications are in stock and available for immediate shipment.
New from Banner Engineering Corp, PresencePlus P4 Edge vision sensors for high-speed inspection and error-proofing applications are in stock and available for immediate shipment Able to accurately sense and evaluate over 10,000 objects per minute, the P4 Edge is ideal for validating the height and width of parts, location of labels or detecting the edge of materials such as plastic or paper on a web operation
"The newest addition to the growing family of PresencePlus vision sensors, the P4 Edge is ideal for measuring the fill level of liquid in bottles or providing verification that the bottle caps are on completely and correctly in a high-speed bottling plant", said Dan Holste, Banner's Director of Vision Products.
Priced at just $995, the Banner PresencePlus P4 Edge vision sensor delivers maximum throughput at an unbelievably low price.
"Challenging, high-speed applications that couldn't justify a single vision inspection solution costing tens of thousands of dollars can now easily justify multiple vision sensors costing less than a thousand dollars each", Holste added.
Banner's low-cost, high-performance strategy has been pivotal to its growing success as a leading provider of vision sensing products.
Another significant factor to the success of Banner's vision products has been the employment of a common user interface across the entire PresencePlus vision sensor platform.
Considered by many to be the easiest-to-use vision software on the market today, this intuitive interface allows anyone with even basic PC abilities to set up an inspection quickly and easily.
And, anyone that has operated one Banner PresencePlus vision sensor, can then intuitively operate any model.
Multiple features of the P4 Edge make it extraordinarily easy to deploy and be operational quickly.
For applications where product lines are constantly being changed, a remote teach feature allows the sensor to learn new elements for which it will need to inspect - without connecting to a PC or shutting down the line.
New inspections can even be learned real time while production is running.
The built-in live video image output allows users to view the sensor's inspections in real time and to also view failed inspection images without the use of a PC.
The P4 Edge vision sensor can interface to machines and factory networks via its built-in 10/100 Ethernet connection, RS232 or discrete input/outputs.
The high-throughput feature detection abilities of the PresencePlus P4 Edge make it ideal for a broad range of high-speed applications in the packaging, pharmaceutical, bottling, metalstamping, automotive and semiconductor industries.
Applications for the P4 Edge include part identification and orientation to eliminate errors by rejecting incorrect parts before they are assembled or packaged; assembly verification to inspect for all critical features and to error proof the manufacturing process; and correct label verification at high speed production rates.
Compact, self-contained P4 Edges are available in both in-line and right-angle versions, defined by the location of the lens on the end or side of the sensor housing.
Both versions measure only 66.8mm wide and the inline model measures 136.1mm long whereas the right angle model is just 124.5mm long.
Included mounting brackets facilitate easy location of the P4 Edge sensors on machines or conveyors.
The units feature three bicolour LED indicators to clearly show unit status during setup and operation.
Banner also offers hundreds of lighting and lensing options to solve even the most challenging applications.
