The new HV series of high capacity mechanical booster vacuum pumps from BOC Edwards features oil-free operation and water-cooled bearings for long term reliability with minimal maintenance.

Mechanical booster pumps are used for the evacuation of large gas volumes in medium vacuum metallurgical and industrial applications, such as steel degassing and heat treatment.

The oil-free design of the HV series, based on the proven Roots mechanism, makes it an ideal solution for dusty or dirty environments, where oil-sealed pumps require intensive maintenance.

Three HV models are offered, with capacities of 11,000, 14,000 and 30,000m3/h.

All the pumps can be fitted with a standard inverter to control pump speed, allowing them to be started from atmospheric pressure at the same time as the backing pump.

This makes for faster pump down and simpler, more reliable operation because there is no need for pressure sensors, by-pass lines or complex control systems.

Pumps can be supplied with vertical or horizontal flow to suit the installation.

Built-in water cooling of the pump seals and bearings minimises the potential for damage caused by heat generation in arduous applications.

After-coolers are fitted as standard.

HV pumps can be used on their own in certain pressure regimes, or with a backing pump for high-speed evacuation.

The combination of HV booster and a BOC Edwards Drystar pump offers a complete dry system from a single source, with no oil in the swept volume.
