Designed for use with BOC Edwards 24V turbo pumps, backing pumps and active gauges, as well as mains backing pumps, the T and IC does the job of two conventional vacuum system controllers

New from vacuum pump manufacturer BOC Edwards is the combined Turbo and Instrument Controller (T and IC) The T and IC provides control and management of a complete vacuum system from a single compact unit and incorporates a range of advanced management features with easy-to-use Windows software for remote control via a PC

Designed for use with the expanding range of BOC Edwards 24V turbo pumps, backing pumps and active gauges, as well as mains backing pumps, the T and IC does the job of two conventional vacuum system controllers.

As a result it offers considerable cost savings over multiple-instrument options ð typically 15% or more for each vacuum system.

The T and IC can be used to control up to three active gauges, one turbo pump and a backing pump, and will automatically recognise the BOC Edwards equipment that is connected to it.

Full system control and integration is achieved by linking connected pumps and gauges through the software.

Built-in setpoints can be configured to operate at any turbo pump speed or gauge pressure and these may be linked to external mains rated relays enabling OEMs and end users to tailor their vacuum system for maximum efficiency.

An intuitive menu driven system and backlit liquid crystal display make the T and IC operation straightforward.

There are graphical displays of turbo speed and pump status for quick reference, and a comprehensive range of user-selectable display options allows system status to be viewed in a variety of formats.

Further control functionality is provided by the Windows based software supplied as standard with every unit.

Multiple T and IC systems can be configured, controlled and monitored from a single PC, data can be logged for analysis and/or reporting, and the T and IC configurations can be stored for future reference.

The package also includes a utility for quick and easy upgrading of the software via the PC.

Despite its high degree of functionality, the T and IC is a compact instrument, measuring just 110 x 105 x 245mm.

Primarily designed for benchtop use, the unit may also be 19ý rack mounted in a _ width 3U high slot.

RS232 and RS485 interfaces are standard, for integration with PC- or PLC-based process control systems.

Dedicated controllers for pump-only or instrument-only control are also available.

These units feature all the functionality and software options of the combined unit, for use in applications where separate control is required.
