Four members of the administrative team at Boge Compressors were recently awarded with the Certificate in Compressed Air Technology.

Four members of the administrative team at Boge Compressors were recently awarded with the Certificate in Compressed Air Technology (CertCAT), for successfully completing the first of its kind e-learning course offered by the British Compressed Air Society.

Over the past six months four administrative staff at Boge have successfully completed the Compressed Air Technology course, a college certificate at Level 2 within the national qualifications framework.

Geoff Taylor, Managing Director of Boge Compressors and a Director of the British Compressed Air Society commented: "We have had first hand knowledge of the real benefit and integrity of this course over the past few months".

"In that time four Boge administrative staff (who perform different functions within the company) successfully underwent the course".

"Feedback from all our candidates has been very positive".

"The course content has been described as 'comprehensive and digestible', and the online tutor as 'very efficient and prompt in responding to questions and returning marked exams'".

"Moreover, many of our candidates believe that the course has heightened their understanding of the fundamental principals of a compressed air system and industry terminology".

CertCAT has been developed over the past two years and is delivered via a virtual learning environment provided by The Virtual College whereby delegates study via the Internet which allows them to learn at their own pace and leisure.

The course requires up to 30 hours commitment from the candidate and covers topics and issues fundamental to the compressed air industry.

This course truly is applicable to anyone working within the industry who wishes to improve their basic knowledge of the principles of compressed air production and use.

Taylor continued: "The importance of such a rudimentary course as an employer cannot be underestimated".

"As a managing director, manager or owner of a business one is responsible, in law, for the action and advice that staff freely offer to existing and potential customers".

"One must be confident that their advice is right and best practice".

"Increasing the standard of education and training continue to be key issues for the industry and we at Boge continue to play our part with education and training firmly on the agenda".

The British Compressed Air Society is accepting candidate applications from 5th September 2005 onwards.

The course costs GBP 385 plus VAT for BCAS members and GBP 550 plus VAT for nonmembers per candidate.
