Online PLM solutions keep bicycle wheels turning

An Arena Solutions product story

bom.com has won three new customers for its online product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions.

bom.com has won three new customers for its online product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions.

These customers will manage their new product introduction (NPI) processes by using bom.com to organise complete product definition information, communicate more effectively with globally dispersed contract manufacturers and gain greater control over changing product data.

Among the new customers choosing the rapidly deployed bom.com solution are: Accordion Networks, which designs and supplies next-generation onsite broadband multi-services activation platforms; Accumux Technologies, which develops and delivers high-precision innovative optical components and subsystems for DWDM fibre-optic communication systems; and Strida Bicycle, which manufactures the world's lightest folding production bicycle.

"We implemented bom.com just as the transition to a contract manufacturer in Asia was starting to spiral out-of-control", said Steedman Bass, Managing Director of Strida Bicycle.

"bom.com enabled a design firm in Windsor (UK), the management team in London, an assembly operation in Taiwan and a manufacturer in China to all get on the same page in real time.

I wish we had known about bom.com months ago when we were still in the development phase; the hand-off to production would have been much smoother.

But now we use the system to organise complete product specifications and documents, manage the quotation process and keep our contract manufacturers in Taiwan and China ahead of, instead of behind, the change process.

There is simply not another product on the market that combines the user-friendliness, functionality, stability and ease of implementation of bom.com.

We'll never look back".

bom.com provides a centralised environment for managing product data, making it easy for OEMs, suppliers and outsourced partners to collaborate in real time around a single set of information - regardless of geographic location or IT infrastructure.

This is particularly valuable for OEMs that need a secure way to share continually changing product data with contract manufacturers.

Other benefits include fewer costly mistakes, improved product quality and faster time to market.

The cost-effective subscription model, which makes bom.com affordable for organisations of any size, means that bom.com customers realise rapid ROI.

"bom.com helps companies bring new products to market faster and more efficiently", said Michael Topolovac, president and CEO of bom.com.

"We're proud to contribute to our customers' successes by giving them a better way to design, build and launch their products".

bom.com is available for an annual subscription of $995 per user with no setup or installation fees.

Customers can access bom.com from any computer with a web browser; there is no traditional software to buy, install, maintain or upgrade.

New bom.com customers can be up and running within days.

They can register by visiting the company's website or by calling the UK sales department.
