Boothroyd Dewhurst will host the twenty-second annual International Forum on Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA), on 19th -20th June, 2007.

The DFMA Forum will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Providence-Warwick, USA.

The focus for this year's event is "Dialogue and Design: Working Together to Develop Cost-Effective Products".

The International Forum on Design for Manufacture and Assembly is the foremost conference worldwide on DFMA methodologies for product developers.

It offers a relaxed environment of collegial interaction in which engineers and other industry experts can share insights on product design best practices.

Presenters discuss their recent DFMA applications and show how product simplification and cost-analysis tools support the development of innovative designs that are economical to produce.

Highlighting the 2007 DFMA Forum is a keynote address by Rainer Gawlick, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing for SolidWorks.

In a talk called "Designing the Absurdly Ideal", he urges product engineers to keep reaching for the best solutions and to preserve the creative approach that differentiates themselves and their companies.

Gawlick holds a bachelor's degree in physics from The University of California at Berkeley, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.

Conference papers for 2007 describe specific product development programmes and examine cost reductions and efficiency gains manufacturing companies including Deere and company, TRW Automotive, Tellabs, Solectron, Trane and Bose.

Among the topics offered this year are papers on lean techniques, concurrent design challenges in electronics, benchmarking, sustainable design, product cost estimating, and DFMA in a global engineering environment.
