A Robofil 6050 TW wire eroder and a Durr Ecoclean will help Brandauer to significantly increase throughput and achieve tight customer delivery deadlines.

Brandauer has bought new wire EDM and a Durr cleaning machines as part of the long-term development of its pressworks business David Spears, Managing Director of Brandauer, said "By investing in best of class technology we will continue to play at the top of our game"

The two new machines, a Robofil 6050 TW wire eroder and a Durr Ecoclean will help the company to significantly increase throughput and achieve tight customer delivery deadlines.

The wire eroder has an increased resolution of 0.05 microns, enabling it to cut to greater accuracy.

Its twin-wire design achieves cutting speeds that are 25% faster than old technology.

This reduces turnaround time for customer tooling and enables tight deadlines to be met.

With Brandauer making 95% of its tooling in-house, this investment is already being realised in quicker turnaround on new tooling and more efficient maintenance on existing tooling.

Given that the company can produce up to 650 million parts per year on a single product line, fast and eco-friendly cleaning of these parts is critical to meeting customer service standards.

The Durr 81P Ecoclean provides a 300% increase in throughput as well as savings of GBP15,000 per year on solvents, helping the company meet key performance indicators on delivery times and financial performance.

The ultrasonic degreasing process working in a vacuum environment, which also filters and re-uses solvent, increasing the capacity of the machine so the whole process is more efficient.

David Spears adds, "At the end of the day, with this machine we are not only fully compliant with the new 2007 Solvent Emissions Directive, but the Durr's capacity is three times greater than what we had before".

"This helps us achieve an outstanding delivery compliance of 98.5%".
