Members of the British Gear Association (BGA) have been urged to continue to work hard to maintain their position in the market place against competitors.

The call came from chairman Alan Thompson at the BGA's recent annual meeting held at Tewkesbury when he also stressed the need to increase the training available for young people and to identify and launch new research projects.

Elected to the BGA's Executive Council at the meeting were Mr M J Askew, of Westland Transmissions Ltd; Mr R G Bricknell, Mr C F W Brimmell, of Allen Gears; Mr M Cristinacce, of CORUS Engineering Steels; Mr D A Hoffman, of the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne; Mr J R Ling, of The Institution of Mechanical Engineers; Mr P W Maillardet, of the Ministry of Defence; Mr P W Murrell, of BAE Systems Marine Ltd and Mr D G Robinson, of R W Gear Ltd.

Committee chairmen recently elected for three years: Research Committee, Mr C Charles; Technical Committee, Mr J Myers; Education and Training Committee, Mr C Brimmell and Marketing Committee, Mr A Marwaha.
