More companies are recognising the value of joining the British Gear Association (BGA).

A successful ongoing recruitment campaign resulted in the BGA welcoming six new members in July.

"We are delighted with the results of our recruitment efforts and look forward to welcoming many more new members before the end of the year," said Chief Executive Jim Hewitt.

"More companies are now recognising the value of joining the BGA because of the wide range of specialist support services that we provide." Founded in 1986, the BGA is based at Burton on Trent and its mission is to secure and enhance the British Mechanical Power Transmission Industry.

Providing the Government with a recognised lead association, the BGA aims to improve the competitive position of the industry, to develop technology to improve the UK's share of world markets, to encourage collaboration between industry and higher education and to identify new, common research needs.

The BGA has two membership categories: a Full member who is entitled to all benefits and to take part in general research meetings and a Research member who is entitled to participate only in research activities.

Providing a wide variety of specialist support services to members, the BGA is represented on several national and international organisations and has committees covering research, technical, marketing, educational and training interest.
