students

The Gear Research Group (GRG) at the University of Huddersfield has been involved in nine major research projects worth about £800,000 over the past 15 years.
BGA Chairman Mr.Alan Thompson will address the 'Technology Workshop' on future trends in gear production; Mr.Roger Haw, Vice Chairman, on heat treatment best practice; Mr.C.
Simpson, Chairman IMechE Manufacturing Division, on manufacturing economies and payback; and Mr.Alan Thompson will be the final speaker on recent developments in standards.
The Workshop will be held in the Halifax Hall of Residence at the University of Sheffield and information can be found on the BGA Website at http://www.bga.org.uk/news/info0028.htm.
It follows an 'Introduction to a Gear Noise Seminar' in Burton on Trent, on September 27, which will look at the basic causes of gear noise, including design and manufacturing errors.
Measurement techniques and analytical approaches will be demonstrated and discussions invited on the practical limitations and methods for reducing noise.
The emphasis will be the understanding of what is happening and developing testing methods to identify the causes of problems.
