Seminar series gets into gear

A seminar on worm gear operating conditions and configurations is to be held by the British Gear Association on 20th March 2002.

A seminar on worm gear operating conditions and configurations is to be held by the British Gear Association on 20th March 2002.

The material presented will highlight worm gear advantages and disadvantages as compared with alternative gear types.

Various methods for the calculation of worm gear load capacity will be reviewed and presentations will be made on lubrication, efficiency and the need for maintenance.

The seminar will be held at the Riverside Hotel, Branston, Burton on Trent, UK.

The BGA is also holding a gearbox rolling bearing awareness day will be held on 14th March 2002 at the British Fluid Power Centre, Worksop.

The programme has been specifically designed to take a novice through bearing basics and the theory and application of bearing selection, with specific emphasis on gearboxes.

The programme will also address subjects of interest to the more experienced designer and production and maintenance engineer.

Shot peening is the subject of a seminar organised for 5th March 2002, and this will be run by Metal Improvement Company at the Midland Derby Hotel, Derby.

During the morning the theory and practice of shot peening will be covered to provide a grounding in the subject and allow engineers to be more aware of the advantages of this process.

In the afternoon a visit to Metal Improvement Company, Derby, has been arranged and this will enable the delegates to see the process in practice.
