The British Gear Association is supporting a four-day "Introduction to gear cutting and measurement" course at Coventry Technical College.

The British Gear Association is supporting a four-day "Introduction to gear cutting and measurement" course at Coventry Technical College.

The course, from 12th to 15th August 2002 inclusive, is designed for engineers, technicians, supervisors, inspectors and setters who require an understanding and some practical experience in basic gear measurement and cutting.

The course content includes basic involute gear theory, terms and definitions for spur and helical gears.

Delegates will be given practical work on the measurement of gears including calculations.

They will be given the basic principles of gear hobbing and shaping and practical work in setting up and producing spur and helical gears on hobbing and shaping machines.

The course is being run in conjunction with Midland Group Training Services who are based in Coventry and presenter will be John Reilly, formerly of Coventry Technical College.

The introduction to gear cutting and measurement is open to BGA and MGTS members as well as to nonmembers.
