Code defines compressed air system tests

A new code of practice defines best practice for jointing techniques, integrity testing, pressure decay testing and staged pressure testing in compressed air systems.

Compressed air leaks account for the greatest energy loss in a system and the potential for leaks to develop can be introduced at the installation and commissioning stage.

A new code of practice "Pressure and leak testing of compressed air systems" from BCAS defines best practice for jointing techniques, integrity testing (including risk assessment), pressure decay testing and staged pressure testing.

Following these guidelines will reduce the susceptibility of a compressed air system to develop leaks, thereby increasing energy efficiency, reliability and safety.
