Workshops cover safety and compressed air audits

A British Compressed Air Society product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 3, 2006

Workshops at the Air-Tech exhibition in Birmingham in May will focus on two key themes: safety and compressed air audits.

The British Compressed Air Society's (BCAS) workshops at the Air-Tech exhibition (NEC, Birmingham, 16th to 18th May 2006) will focus on two key themes: safety and compressed air audits.

"Whilst compressed air is recognised as a safe and reliable form of power, operators can still suffer injury if basic guidelines are not complied with", commented BCAS's Marion Beaver.

The BCAS workshop sessions will outline safe working practices that employers should put in place in order to protect the workforce.

BCAS has also developed a safety course in conjunction with safety practitioners in the field.

It specifically addresses the need of those who use handheld air tools, including blow guns.

In addition to the user safety theme, the BCAS workshops will concentrate on safety from a legislation perspective and how to ensure employers are kept compliant and up to date regarding new rulings.

The second main theme is compressed air audits: BCAS has secured funding from the Carbon Trust Networks Initiative to develop benchmarks for air audits.

The workshop session will review the technologies and methodologies of energy audits, and how to optimise energy efficiency.
