Hydraulically driven winches mount more flexibly
The unique square frame of Brevini's new BW range of winches gives users considerable flexibility by enabling the winches to be mounted in any position.
The CTM drives are rotary case type planetary units that use multiple gear stages to reduce size.
They are available with integrated hydraulic motors, which are either axial piston or orbital types, and can be fitted with options such as brakes and a disconnect device to aid towing.
Thanks to the inherent capacity of planetary gear trains to deliver high reduction ratios in small packages and to transmit several times the torque of similarly sized, conventional gear units, the integrated CTM drive package is remarkably compact and lightweight, and requires little installation space.
In addition, the planetary drive is also around 90% efficient and, critically, is able to provide extremely low speeds without any loss of efficiency.
Finally high levels of reliability are a feature of the planetary design, thanks to the distribution of stress among several load-bearing components.
The structural geometries of every gear unit in the CTM range (13 in total) and the size of their motors were chosen globally at a preliminary stage so that all the units would fit in with a single construction philosophy, exploiting wherever possible, component interchangeability.
Apart from the smallest unit in the range, which is dedicated to mini-excavators and has an integrated orbital motor and therefore only one reduction stage, all the other units have two or three planetary stages.
This subdivision is particularly important because it provides a suitable balance between the three main parameters of operating torque, travelling speed and engine capacity.
Only high quality materials are used in the construction of the CTM series.
All gears and shafts are made from alloy steels, and the planet carriers from high quality cast iron or steel.
The housings are manufactured from nodular or high quality grey cast iron, as necessary, to enable them to withstand stresses from loads on the output shaft.
