A novel range of gearboxes features a revolutionary new epicyclic gear design that increases the power available from the unit without affecting the overall weight of the design.

Brevini's S Series gearboxes feature a revolutionary new epicyclic gear design that increases the power available from the unit without affecting the overall weight of the design, allowing an improvement of up to 60% over traditional gear designs Available in eight sizes, with up to four reduction stages and offering maximum nominal torques outputs up to 370kNm, the high-torque low-weight S series is set to become favourite for OEM designers in a range of industries including, mobile, industrial, petrochemical, mineral extraction, marine and food processing

Employing four planetary gear wheels in their epicyclic gear train, instead of the normal three, the revolutionary new S Series gearboxes can produce 40-60% more torque output than other gearbox designs of equivalent size and weight.

In addition, the innovative S Series design increases the contact area of the planet gears on the central gear, increasing both the rigidity and accuracy of the gearboxes.

This feature broadens the range of machines and applications that can benefit from a reduced weight and size planetary gearing solution.

Also aiding system rigidity, the planet carrier of the S Series has a unique monoblock design that is machined from cast.

As this unit is produced in only 17 operations, savings are accrued in both production time and costs.

These are passed on to customers by Brevini in terms of reduced lead times and unit costs.

"The S Series really starts where our popular planetary PDL range left off", explains Brevini UK's General Sales Manager, Jon Snaith.

"The PDL units were used in heavy plant and process machinery applications and the design was so efficient it remained largely unchanged for 30 years".

"Now the S Series is set to make a significant impact on future power transmission system designs".

By increasing the output available from the planetary design, Brevini has been able to run successful field trials in applications where power transmission from a central motor would have been the only option previously available.

For example, by being able to reduce the size and weight of the gearbox it can be easily integrated into a hydraulic drive system used on mobile machinery.

In addition, the increased torque available allows the S Series units to be used with smaller motors in mixing applications.

With its many output variations, numerous input possibilities and Brevini's comprehensive range accessories, the S Series extends application possibilities and increases its suitability for replacing existing units.

The gearboxes can be used to reduce size and weight or to torque-up the performance of a broad range of machines from quarry conveyors to metal extruders and food mixers to water pumps in purification plants.

Brevini's new S Series gearboxes are available in the UK on a short delivery basis.

They are detailed in a new comprehensive catalogue.
