Adsorbers reduce fluid contamination

A Brownell product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 24, 2007

A removable adsorbent container allows the unit's desiccant material to be changed without breaking the breather pipe connection.

Brownell has extended its range of tank vent breathers and adsorbers to prevent the contamination of valuable fluids with harmful moisture condensation.

The units also prevent the release of toxic vapours from the tank into the atmosphere.

Installation of these breathers has been made quick and simple, with a direct connection to an existing breather or vent pipe immediately removing the water vapour entering the tank.

A removable adsorbent container allows the unit's desiccant material to be changed without breaking the breather pipe connection.

A distinctive change in the desiccant's colour signals when it is saturated and needs to be replaced or reactivated.

Fluid properties adversely affected by humidity and moisture vapour adsorbtion include viscosity, electrical insulation and chemical stability.

High adsorbed water levels can also lead to fluids freezing at low temperatures.
