The harmful effects of vibration and noise on machine life, product quality and the environment, can be reduced with BSL's new Paulstra range of anti-vibration flexible bushes and mounting systems.

The harmful effects of vibration and noise on machine life, product quality and the environment, can be reduced with BSL's new Paulstra range of anti-vibration flexible bushes and mounting systems The breadth of the Paulstra range, with over 2000 standard products, means that the bushes and mounts find almost universal application, not only in industrial applications, but also in Food Processing, Quarrying, Civil Engineering, and Marine environments

The Paulstra range is exclusive to BSL in the UK and is available from over 100 local Customer Service Centres.

The products are well known across the European mainland and arrive in the UK market with a considerable pedigree: they are manufactured in France by a company (Paulstra) that is part of the Hutchinson Group, Europe's leading manufacturer of elastomeric products and a specialist in vibration and acoustic isolation technology.

Bertrand Ballet, Marketing Manager of Paulstra, explains why the company chose BSL as its UK distributor: "Paulstra have always worked through distribution in Europe.

We saw BSL as the most significant distributor in the UK, and a perfect partner for our range of anti-vibration mountings.

The timing of this agreement couldn't be better because the market for our products is experiencing strong growth right across Europe, driven by increasingly stringent health and safety regulations".

The importance of the product range to UK industry is highlighted by research conducted by Paulstra.

This shows that its low cost anti-vibration equipment can...

- Increase the productivity of machines and reduce their maintenance requirements.

- Improve the working conditions and job satisfaction of operators, leading to higher personal productivity.

- Improve the operating environment by reducing noise.

Paulstra anti-vibration devices are the result of advanced materials development and extensively tested designs developed at the company's own research facility.

The standard range, which caters for the majority of applications, features products that utilise natural rubber bonded to corrosion resistant metal.

The advantage to the user of natural rubber is the material's excellent mechanical properties.

In the case of the Paulstra devices these properties are complemented by a long operating life and increased durability, the latter achieved by developing innovative rubber mixes, which allow a low creep and a low average of stiffness under the effects of vibration.

The Paulstra range also includes Silicone and EPDM (mix) alternatives to natural rubber to meet the needs of specific industries.

Silicone is the material used on anti-vibration products employed in the electronics industry, where good insulation properties are essential.

The material offers the additional advantage that it is approved for use in clean rooms.

EPDM mix is an anti-bacterial, clean elastomer that is used in the food industry and in applications where the anti-vibration device may come into contact with potable water.

In common with the absorption material, the metal element of the anti-vibration devices is designed to provide robust and reliable performance in most types of operating conditions.

Extensive tests have proved this to be the case, even in arduous environments.

The anti-corrosive metal has been exposed to a saline atmosphere for up to 400 hours, yet has remained unaffected.

For the small minority of applications where this level of performance is unsatisfactory a Stainless Steel alternative is available.

Most of the Paulstra standard products offer the advantage of being easy to select and fit.

However, for those applications that are not so straightforward BSL can provide the powerful selection features of a dedicated software package, Paulstrasoft.

Paulstrasoft can be used across the four basic groups in the extensive Paulstra range.

These groups include: Radiaflex circular mounts with different types of fixing (male or female, simple threaded mounts): Nivofix and Minifix machine mounts, which filter out high frequency vibration and offer the added advantages of accurate height adjustment and corrosion resistant anti-slip bases: Stabiflex units for mobile applications, and newest of all are Paulstradyn units that retain the same height under normal load across the range and offer 90% vibration attenuation at 1500 rpm.
