BSL's bearing maintenance products have been extended with the new TMMA range of bearing jaw pullers from SKF which locate and remove bearings more easily and efficiently than other designs

BSL's range of bearing maintenance products has been extended further with the new TMMA range of bearing jaw pullers from SKF The TMMA pullers have a (patent-pending) lightweight design that protects the bearing during disassembly and optimises the time required for the removal operation

The TMMA design includes three strong arm springs for easier and faster gripping, and a reliable self locking feature.

Together these enable the TMMA units to locate and remove bearings more easily and efficiently than other designs of pullers.

The TMMA range addresses the approximately 16% of bearing failures that can be attributed to incorrect fitting or removal.

The major factors contributing to these failures are the use of brute force to remove bearings and ignorance of the correct tools to be used.

The simplicity and effectiveness of the TMMA bearing jaw pullers means that both of these problems can be overcome at a stroke.

Consequently, the risk of damaging a bearing and its seating during the removal operation is greatly reduced.

Not only does the TMMA series of pullers protect the bearing and its assembly, it also provides safeguards to the maintenance engineer.

In the event of excessive force being applied to the puller, a shear pin ensures a controlled failure.

Moreover, if a component wears, overtime, or becomes damaged, the modular design of the TMMA pullers allows for simple replacement.

The TMMA units are available from BSL in three different sizes with maximum withdrawal forces that range from three to eight tonnes (30kN to 80kN).

The largest TMMA 8 puller can be supplied with a TMHR 8/SET Hydraulic Ram supplied via a hand or air generated pump.

With an applied force of up to eight tonnes and three arm extensions available up to 300mm in length, even large bearings can be removed quickly and easily.
