Robert Bosch has announced the appointment of Hermann Kaess to the position of executive vice president and managing director for Bosch Automotive in the UK.

Kaess (46), who studied mechanical engineering whilst serving with the German army, has been part of the Bosch Group for 15 years.

Starting as an application engineer for suspension control systems, he then worked on system development of Bosch's Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS) and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) before moving into sales and marketing prior to his appointment in the UK.

"I am delighted to be heading up the UK automotive original equipment team.

My move to the UK has come at an important time for the company with the recent launch of the Esperience dealer training programme - the largest road safety initiative by a components supplier in Europe - and the milestone celebration of 10 years of our ESP technology from next year.

I am looking forward to the challenge of expanding the business here in the UK and strengthening relationships with customers and industry," said Kaess.

Kaess will be based at the Bosch's automotive headquarters at Denham in Buckinghamshire.
