The British pump industry is getting ready for the inaugural BPMA Pump Industry Awards.

With the call for nominations now closed and the judging/voting process about to begin for the inaugural BPMA Pump Industry Awards, the British pump industry is getting ready for an excellent evening of recognition and celebration Launched by IML Exhibitions in association with the British Pump Manufacturers' Association and supported by some of the industry's leading players, this initiative has been created specifically to acknowledge and reward the achievements made by products, companies and individuals operating within this important market sector

The are seven award categories, for which nominations have been actively sought over the past few months, and each is sponsored by a leading manufacturer or supplier.

Collectively these awards address the main key areas of influence.

Technical innovation of the year is sponsored by John Crane International, and will be awarded for the most innovative pump, pumping system or other pump related product (new or redeveloped), with effectiveness being demonstrated via application details.

Environmental contribution of the year is Sponsored by Sterling Fluid Systems and awarded for the product, system or service, which has made a significant contribution to environmental issues, such as energy savings, emissions control, noise reduction or LCC.

User application of the year, sponsored by KSB, will be awarded for the most novel, interesting or technically difficult application of a pump or pump related system, recognising the contribution made by both supplier/contractor and end user.

Small business of the year is sponsored by Kontro Sealless Pumps, and awarded for the pump or pump related company that has developed or improved its market position by either increasing sales, profit or its product/service offering.

Global "customer service" of the year is sponsored by World Pumps, and will be awarded to the pump or pump related business that has demonstrated consistently high levels of customer service satisfaction, via after-sales support activities and initiatives.

Sponsored by Weg Electric Motors, a lifetime achievement award will be given to the individual who has made the most significant and consistent contribution to the pump industry.

In addition, a special judges award, recognising outstanding achievement, as determined by the PIA judging panel, will be presented by ITT Industries.

These prestigious awards will be presented at a Gala Awards Dinner to be held at the Britannia Royal Court Hotel, Keresley, Coventry on the evening of 20th March 2003.

In keeping with the "business approach" adopted by this new initiative, the principal guest speaker for the evening is Digby Jones, Director General of the Confederation of British Industries.

A black tie event, there will be a champagne reception to start with, followed by a superb five course meal with fine wine.

Using an impressive stage set and backed by a professional A/V presentation, the awards ceremony itself will be the highlight of the evening, during which the winners of each award will be invited on to the stage to receive their accolade from one of the seven sponsors.

This impressive evening will be concluded with some hilarious "observations on life" by an excellent after dinner entertainer.

Tables of ten or individual seats are available for purchase, and with over 300 people expected to attend, this gala awards evening will provide an excellent, and above all enjoyable, business function.

It will provide the backdrop for a true industry gathering, and as such, you are invited to vote for which finalist you think should be the outright winner in each category.

Full details of the finalists will be published shortly, but in the meantime the dedicated website www.piawardsonthenet.net provides further information on the nomination criteria and the overall judging/voting process.
