The British Stainless Steel Association [BSSA] has recently launched its own 'Stainless Steel Specialist Course' to provide a benchmark for skills within the industry and offer participants the chance to develop their knowledge of the material to an accredited standard.

With the benefit of hands-on experience from a similar successful Australian venture and with assistance from the Stainless Steel Advisory Service to incorporate European standards, this course offers comprehensive information about every aspect of stainless steel practice.

It is suitable for all disciplines and employees, from senior managers to shop floor workers.

The course consists of sixteen authoritative training modules.

Input from industry has ensured up-to-date relevance and practicality.

If required, the BSSA can modify individual courses to facilitate the specific requirements of individual companies.

Each self-study module consists of a booklet [8-36 pages], incorporating a series of multiple choice and short answer examination questions, allowing participants to learn at a pace which they can vary to the demands of their jobs.

The BSSA offers two levels of accredited certification - an intermediate one for successful completion and examination of a minimum of five modules, including four compulsory subjects.

A full certificate will be awarded for undertaking successfully a minimum of twelve of the training modules.

The fees comprise an initial registration fee of ?15 + VAT, plus a course fee based on the number of training modules undertaken.

Successful completion of the five modules required to qualify for an intermediate certificate will cost ?100 + VAT, and of the twelve modules required to qualify for the full certificate ?240 + VAT.

Prices include course material, examination questions, assessment and certification.

BSSA companies and their employees will qualify for a 40% discount on the course fees.
