BAE Systems has announced the appointment of Ian King to the post of Chief Operating Officer responsible for all UK and Rest of the World business.

BAE Systems has announced the appointment, with effect from 1st January 2007, of Ian King, currently Group Managing Director of its Customer Solutions and Support business to the post of Chief Operating Officer responsible for all UK and Rest of the World business (excluding US-led businesses).

In his new role, King will become a member of the BAE Systems' Board and report to Chief Executive, Mike Turner.

In making this announcement, BAE Systems Chairman Dick Olver said: "We welcome Ian to the Board".

"This appointment recognises the changing face of BAE Systems' business both in response to the UK customer's Defence Industrial Strategy and the potential for development and growth of markets in which we have a significant industrial or business presence".

Chris Geoghegan, Executive Director, retains his existing operational responsibilities and will report to Ian King from 1st January 2007.

Steve Mogford, Executive Director, will, from 1st January 2007, lead BAE Systems' drive for restructuring of the naval sector (both surface ships and submarines).

Mogford will report to Chief Executive Mike Turner.

His previous operational responsibilities for the company's Naval Ships and Submarines lines of business will pass to Ian King from 1st January 2007.

Chief Executive Mike Turner adds: "These organisational changes align our management structure with the evolution of our strategy and business model globally".

"We are now better positioned to deliver on our customer commitments as outlined in the UK's Defence Industrial Strategy".
