Successful conference attracts best audience
This year's Altair technology conference attracted an audience of over 250 engineering professionals.
The sample was taken from Business Advantage's database of 20,000 UK CAD/CAM user sites.
A positive response was defined as anything from asking for more information to making a purchase.
The research also found that, of the CAD/CAM using companies surveyed: * Two thirds receive only five or less unsolicited marketing emails from IT suppliers per week.
* Just over half claim to receive 10 or less emails of any nature, from any source, either internal or external, a day.
A quarter receive between 11 and 25, 2% receive between 51 and 100, and just 1% receive more than 100.
* A quarter read all marketing emails from existing suppliers, almost two fifths read some, and almost two fifths read none.
* However, while the same number read all marketing emails from new suppliers, almost half read some, and a quarter read none.
Chris Turner, Managing Director of The Business Advantage Group Plc, observes: "This research reveals that a high proportion of CAD/CAM decision makers are not currently deluged with emails in general, and three quarters receive only 5 or less unsolicited marketing emails a week from IT suppliers.
An encouraging proportion (a third) of CAD/CAM users have responded positively to marketing emails in the past, but clearly their success will be related to the whole mix of other marketing activities taking place.
Suppliers targeting the right people with communications relevant to their needs will be confident of making the greatest impact." The findings came from telephone interviews conducted in June 2001 with CAD/CAM users from 245 UK sites (selected to provide a representative sample of the total UK CAD/CAM market).
The sample was taken from Business Advantage's database of 20,000 UK CAD/CAM user sites.
