Sensor range suits varied environments

A Balluff UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 3, 2007

Balluff's through-beam slot and angle sensors come with nine different housing dimensions to suit different applications.

Balluff has expanded its line of through-beam slot and angle sensors.

Now the use can choose from an offering of nearly 50 different versions for virtually any application.

The through-beam slot sensors include nine different housing dimensions with slot widths of 5 to 220mm.

They are available with high visibility red light for standard applications or with highly focused laser light for small parts detection down to a resolution of 0.3mm.

The more recent through-beam angle sensors now feature over 20 red light and laser light versions with a resolution down to 0.1mm and varying leg lengths to cover any application.

The compact processing circuitry is contained in a rugged metal IP67 housing.

The active surface of the sensor, like the control panel consisting of an LED function display with two potentiometers, is flush with the housing to protect against damage.

Depending on the model these sensors feature a maximum switching frequency of 1.0 or 3kHz and are available with NPN or PNP output.

Startup is simple and practical.

Simply use a normal screwdriver to turn a potentiometer for activating light-on or dark-on switching and set the desired sensitivity.

For quick and uncomplicated installation Balluff also offers a sensor holder in two different versions for attaching the entire range of slot sensors in seconds using standardised mounting holes.

The sensor holders are also part of the modular BMS installation system from Balluff for handling virtually any mounting situation.
