Balluff unveils Steelface sensor

A Balluff product story

Balluff has released the extra-rugged Steelface sensor, to reduce replacement costs and production downtime.

Machined from a single piece of solid stainless steel, it has a 1mm thick, extremely robust steel face that is impact, chemical, cutting fluid and abrasion-resistant.

It is ideal for use in harsh environments and applications that are too extreme for standard sensors.

With M8, M12, M18 and M30 sizes (shielded and unshielded), these sensors do not sacrifice sensing range for increased durability, achieving the same sensing range as Balluff's standard proximity sensors.

To reduce the risk of impact damage, a further series offers an extended sensing range, allowing the sensor to be mounted further away from the target.

Steelface sensors with selective discrimination do not respond to aluminium chips and are therefore suitable for chip-forming aluminium machining.

Applications include metal processing in machine tools, food production and automotive technology.
