Thorite Group has supplied a range of Burkert Fluid Control Systems' pneumatic control valves to specialist manufacturer Jedwin Engineering of Blackburn.

Burkert Fluid Control Systems' partner distributor Thorite Group, a leading fluid and air solutions provider, has supplied a range of Burkert pneumatic control valves to specialist manufacturer Jedwin Engineering of Blackburn.

The valves control the flow of compressed air in automatic tyre inflation units that are designed and produced by Jedwin for Formula One tyre manufacturer Bridgestone.

The machine enables two tyres to be simultaneously inflated to pressures around 379kPa, in order to seat the tyre's bead on the rim.

Once the bead is safely located, the unit bleeds air from the tyre to a predetermined race pressure of around 138kPa.

A series of warning lights indicate the stage that the process has reached, with a complete cycle taking 60s.

The automatic tyre inflation unit allows tyre technicians to stay clear of the tyres during inflation, making the whole process safer and more convenient.
