Solenoid valves handle liquids and gases

A Burkert Fluid Control Systems product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 24, 2008

Supplied with either G 1/4 or G 3/8 ports, the Type 6240 has a 6mm orifice, delivering flow of 0.6m3/h at pressures up to 16bar.

Burkert's 6240 valve is an extremely compact, servo-assisted solenoid valve for universal use with neutral gases, liquids such as compressed air, water and hydraulic oil and also steam.

It allows switching up to 16bar without differential pressure, opens in 20ms and is small in size.

The Type 6240 suits use in gas handling applications, in compressors and shut-off valves in gas facilities.

The valves are also suited to steam sterilisation.

The Type 6240 valves are well-equipped for these tasks.

They are manufactured with brass or stainless steel (316L) bodies, internal parts of brass/stainless steel and Peek and FKM seals, with EPDM and PTFE variants available.

Supplied with either G 1/4 or G 3/8 ports, the Type 6240 has a 6mm orifice, delivering flow of 0.6m3/h at pressures up to 16bar.

This standard version is suitable for use in the temperature range of -10 to +120C (FKM seals), or -30 to +120C with EPDM seals, which are available upon request.

For applications requiring temperatures and pressures outside of these ranges, Burkert offers an extended version of the 6240, which operates up to 25bar and 180C.

The Type 6240 offers the flexibility for dry as well as "wet" operation and it provides the highest levels of actuation performance and reliability with insulation class H epoxy coils, which have IP65 ingress protection with cable plugs fitted.

The coils are rated 24V DC, which facilitates mobile applications, or 24 and 230V AC (50Hz), with other voltages available on request.
